Crash fund may top £20,000 tonight Gifts pouring in for families bereaved by the Swiss air disaster looks like top- ping £20,000 by tonight. The general launched to cover fund the Axbridge, Cheddar, Congresbury and Wrington areas has now reached £11,085. The people of Basel have contributed more than £5,625 and money pouring into the individual towns and villages from all over the country has topped £3,000. Former Axbridge Rural Counell treasurer, Mr. Cyril Farthing, who came out of retirement to handle the general fund, said £2,698 had been received today alone. The total fund so far included three cheques for £1,000 and two for 1500. Council chairman, Cir John Walter, who launched the general fund, said its aim was to provide short- term and long-term help, Bristol hit most by air disaster.
